My skills…
I create custom murals and produce specialist paint effects in any kind of setting.
My skills have developed to include all forms of decorative painting, fine detailed stencil work, gold leaf and gilding, trompe l’oeil mural painting and a variety of tailor made paint effects.
I have been fortunate to work in some incredible historic buildings, in some prestigious interiors, as well as for some big businesses and interesting customers. These are varied across the public, commercial and private sectors, including Historic Buildings, Churches, Schools, Hospitals, Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Nightclubs, Shopping Centres, Museums, Galleries, Swimming Pools and Private Residences.
I aim to develop the best working relationship which in turn produces the best results in my experience.
Well used to working and liaising with other contractors and professionals to get the job done efficiently, I strive to be imaginative and creative, achieving this with impact or subtlety, working alongside the customer within a suitable time frame and budget.
With a thorough knowledge of traditional and modern techniques, I aim to select the most appropriate materials for every job to achieve the most professional results.

Decorative Paint Finishes
Extensive experience decorating and painting buildings and houses of all periods…Victorian and Georgian house painting, and paint repairs. Historically accurate and seamless restoration of period paint finishes and murals.
Gold Leaf Gilding
Specialist gilding and gold leafing on a variety of surfaces, including water gilding, real gold leaf, dutch metals, silver leaf, using oil based size and water based size.
Historic Restoration
Extensive experience decorating and painting buildings and houses of all periods… particularly au fait with Victorian house painting, Georgian house painting and paint repairs. Historically accurate and seamless restoration of paint finishes, murals and gold leafing in churches and chapels

What I consider mural painting to be;
A painting or piece of artwork applied to a wall, ceiling or similar surface.
It should enhance a space and bring something of value to it.
The mural artist should be sympathetic to the immediate surroundings and its architecture, often using characteristics to achieve a sense of harmony and to help the art work belong in the space.
A successful wall mural should begin with competent drawing, an evolved sense of composition and the technical ability to use colour and form.
The most successful mural artist can surprise and uplift an area, bringing joy or an unusual angle to a place.

“After finding rising damp to the stencilled walls within our church, St Augustine’s, Kenilworth, the job of treating the damp and repairing the plaster was relatively straightforward , if somewhat messy.
The bigger problem was who do we get to repair the stencilling?
After contacting the Pugin Society along with various other organisations for help, we were no nearer to finding anybody.
Luckily our parish priest, Fr Kevin Hooper, knew the priest at Baddesley Clinton, who was having similar works done, and recommended Garry at Pro Murals.
As soon as I met Garry and showed him the problem I was confident we had found the right person for the job.
Garry’s attention to detail, both the intricate shapes of the stencilling and the precise colour matching was excellent.
He went to great lengths and spent endless hours getting everything perfect and the finished job could not have been better.
The repairs that Garry has carried out are identical in every way to the existing stencilling that surround them, you literally cannot see where the new finishes and the old starts.
